Jans Family Restaurant and Lounge in Buena Vista

The staff was friendly. The grilled cheese was ok. My boyfriend said his burger was very good.

Our food was great and home cooked not frozen including real mashed potatoes and wonderful homemade pies. Service was top notch too. I highly recommend the chicken fried steak.

Slooooooooow service due to being short handed from Covid I suspect. The food is good and I would go again.

Nice local diner. Roast beef dinner was good. Breakfast served all day and looked very nice at the next table. Staff is friendly a fast.

Jan’s restaurant is BY FAR the best restaurant in town. The food is amazing and the service is amazing as well! Very friendly people! The green chili sauce is awesome! A benchmark example of a classic-no-frills diner. Staff was "Small town friendly" and efficient. They knew the names of the locals as they sat them, but evenly treated everyone with efficient service. Food was fantastic. The green Chile on my breakfast burrito was great, and my wife enjoyed the jalepeno elk sausage with her eggs.

Jan's restaurant is super dope!! Service was impeccable. They were super busy when we were there and our food came in a very prompt amount of time the wait staff was amazing. My coffee was always full. Food was delicious!! I will definitely go back!!!

A lovely, local establishment with friendly staff who work hard and fast to provide excellent service to each and every customer. Their breakfast here is quite excellent. The interior decor is mainly southwestern with Native American art and simple furniture.

Great restaurant! The employees are really friendly and the food is good n tasty. The pie is absolutely amazing. It gets rather busy here sometimes, so plan on waiting a little bit for your food. But other than that, it's great!

A quaint little restaurant lively with people. The food was wonderful, we had breakfast, with very large portions. Staff works beautifully together and are very kind. They make it a point to deep clean after every guest. If you're in the neighborhood I would definitely recommend!

What an awesome meal! I don’t get to BV often, but when I do, I go to Jan’s! It’s a great atmosphere with great service and food. Close to downtown and you never leave hungry. Try the French dip. It is the very best!

A great All-American diner with a vast menu. You feel the love going in to the food, and very friendly service. A 5 foot board lists all the pies available. Large place spread out wide for social distancing, and being vigorously cleaned continuously. Great environment for seniors, and a nice discount from what I overheard.

Great stop to eat!Stopped here for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning when passing through Buena Vista. Parking was a little tough for a wheelchair ramp van. No real marked spots, limited handicap accessible spots. Was able to double park so to speak to have enough space.There was a 15 minute wait for us, with no room to stand inside. Realized later there were benches in front of the restaurant. Hostess called names on the wait list outside.Was able to have a nice place o sit. Server was friendly and attentive. Food was awesome, tasted good and was served hot. Portion size was perfect. Toast is thick, not flimsy thin toast I'm used to. The short stack pancakes might have short (2 pancakes), but they are as big as the plate.It appeared there was a bar in the back and cold host some events.I definitely would return here again if I were in the area.

Great food! Huge selection of homemade pies (witnessed customers buying whole pies!). I had a Mountain Man sandwich, roast beef pies high, sauteed onions and mushrooms, cheese and bacon. It will not disappoint. My husband had rellenos and really enjoyed those also. They were smothered with plenty of green chili and they brought him enough salsa at the start!

Stopped for lunch on way to the hot springs. I chose breakfast(served all day)- 3 egg meat lovers omelette with hash browns and an English muffin. The hash browns were crispy and delicious!

Very good Home cooking foods, right of the main Street, fun friendly staff. We had the chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. The soup for the day was asparagus potato. It was great.😀The chicken fried steak was a blast from the past.The atmosphere contains lots of Indian artwork two fire places. Good music and even had a small bar.

Really cozy, yet fairly spacious, old-school, mom & pop -type family restaurant. The food is really good, and the restaurant is one of the local's favorite's. The staff is really nice, and helpful, but the main treat are the pies! They are home-made fruit pies, that are mouthwatering delicious (especially with some ice cream)! The prices are pretty reasonable, and it's a great place to grab a bite if you are looking for something light.

Looking for a good place to eat at a reasonable price, the parking lot was full at 11 am, so that was the first clue. We weren't disappointed. Really good comfort food. Breakfast has many options, including homemade rellenos and giant oatmeal pancakes with crunchy edges and soft thick middles. Jan, the owner, talked with everyone like family. We left with our stomachs full and happy.

Great service, great food, and lots of original artworks. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant and am supporting their pick-up service while they ensure everyone’s safety by remaining closed to sit down dining.

Great food and a classic atmosphere. This is where to go for that old time family restaurant experience. The staff is friendly the food is home cooked and the experience is relaxing and fun.

Let's be honest, when you see so many seniors who are clearly regulars who like the food, it must be good because they will not put up with bad food or bad service, so- we stopped with our own seniors. It was fantastic food, and our waitress was adorable. It was so busy, she ended up wandering around with our food to several tables, which was hilarious, and I'm sure not the norm, but it only added to the experience. We have another trip planned soon, and this place is automatically on the agenda. Highly recommend!

Great local restaurant. Good food and great service. Laid back and casual atmosphere. They were temporarily only open for breakfast and lunch the last time we visited. They get really crowded during peak summer hours and parking can be tough during these same periods. Miss the crowds and you'll better enjoy your experience.

Food was very good. Many choices on the menu. Waiter Carl was friendly and attentive.

Canned corn beef and hash. Not impressed biscuits and gravy about average for instant gravy. It’s a hot breakfast. Definitely a locals spot. Couple of tables with a few older guys chewing the fat. Having a cup of coffee. Great way to get the low down on Buena Vista.

Looks like a great local place to eat. It was recommended by the coffee shop, and the staff was so friendly. They knew the people who came in. Our food was prepared perfectly and it was good.

Every time I come through Buena Vista, I have to go to Jan's. I love the people and the food is great with reasonable prices. Thank you for being able to continue during this pandemic. Best of luck to you all. I highly recommend Jan's restaurant.

Nearly 30 minutes from order being taken to food arrived. Sunday breakfast but the place was not packed full. Hash browns were cold, but the rest of the food was warm/hot. Waitress never checked back. Took almost 10 minutes to get the check. O..k. food, weak service. Nearly $40 for breakfast for 2. . Doubt we'll be back.
